somewhere along the way we lose the "maybe"
Wednesday, 27 August 2003 12:14Hm!
So Bo and I left the apartment on Monday afternoon. I hadn't gotten any sleep after work that morning, so I drank two Bawls to pep up. I droppped Bo off at Jeff's and continued to my parents' house, where I played with Sammer-Jammer (hush) and just generally hung out and talked. Ate dinner, which was Turkey Pot Pie. Yum! XD Mom said she was going to make pie when I came, I figured something sweet, but I guess Turkey makes as good a pie as anything, neh? heh. I wanted to play chess in Fort Smith, so I went back and picked Bo and Jeff up. Jeff let me drive his car, which is a new Focus SE. I have to admit, it is a sweet car. Fancy. I offered to trade him, he didn't seem too thrilled with that idea. We went to Best Buy and the Mall first, then Cici's Pizza. This made us two hours late for the chess meeting, meaning I got to watch the last game, and didn't get to play any at all. Sad. Oh, well, I still had fun. We went to Wal-mart Supercenter after that, then headed back home. Jeff had bought Berserk disc 2, which we watched. It's an anime, about a guy with a buster sword who is in this merc group, sort of. It's very bloody, very entertaining. I got back to my rents' place about 1:30 in the morning and went to sleep. I'm kind of surprised I went to sleep so quickly, that day I'd had two bawls, a Doubleshot Cold Espresso drink, and a cuppa joe...Joe Muggs, that is. Caf heavy. I'm glad, though, as Tuesday brought some serious running around. Dad called to tell me he was going to pay for my first month of insurance, and I needed to set it up. This required me going to the Revenue Office in the courthouse to get my driving record, which is kind of handy to have anyway. By the end of 2004, I'll only have one item on it, as opposed to the four that are there now. Two tickets, two at-faults. Ye jackals, I was a bad driver that year (2001). While I was in town, I stopped at an auto shop and got my rear blinker fixed, finally. Apparently I have to unscrew an entire metal plate to get to the bloody thing, I was unimpressed. It cost me five dollars, but from now on I know how to do it myself. Yay me. :) I compared quotes between Progressive and Logan County insurance, and stuck with Progressive. A wee bit cheaper, and a more well-known company, anyway. I've never been dissatisfied with their service. Not really. So! That will cost me $140 every month from now on. Expensive! $20 cheaper than my car payments, though, which I've been able to make, so I'm not worried. I'm going to try to pay my car off this next payment, I should have enough money. If not, then I will the next pyacheck I get, no worries.
...where was I? Ah, yeah. After I set up my new policy, they faxed my temporary proof of insurance papers to the hosue. Unfortunately, Mom's fax machine ran out of ink just as it was prinitng the last page. So, the machine kept the fax in memory and started beeping at us to replace the film. Yes, the thing uses an INK STRIP instead of an ink cartridge like any other self-respecting printer thingy. Ugh. We couldn't make it stop beeping, so Dad opened it up and manually rewound the ink film (TWICE! as the machine is STUPID.) so it could finish printing the papers. It did that a couple of times, so I got three copies of my temporary POI. Amusingly sad. That was exciting. After that, I said my goodbyes and picked up Bo, who had stayed at Jeff's. Sad note to self: you are the only one in the Geek Collective who likes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, thus far. Dan doesn't count, as he was iffy about it. Hrmph.
Bo bought LOTR - The Two Towers last night, which we watched a part of. I'm also halfway into watching Charlie's Angels again, it's as good as the first time I saw it XD Dan bought it for me as a prezzie, just so I could watch Cameron Diaz shake her thang. Woo! *cough* I was going to post this last night after a nap, but the nap turned into real sleep. I was pretty tired. Went to bed around 1, got up around 10. Something like that. I just got through with my laundry, and Bo is still not even awake. Well, not up, anyway. He might be awake. Alone in his room....and I'll not continue that tangent, thanks. o_0 I should do dishes, but I'm still tired. Ugh. Anyway, that was my weekend off from work. Preserved.
Jonathan and I played one game of Chess, which I won. Either he really is losing his touch, or he let me win. Sad thought, either way. He's laoning me his chess books, all 8 of them. Reading material for the next 12 years, indeed.
...I don't know what I'm going to do. I go to work in an hour and a half. Maybe I'll nap. Slack.
