Fregging car. Wouldn't start; acted like a dead battery. Tried jump-starting it with Nay's car, it barely started then died immediately. I was really worried my alternator had gone bad or something. Took the battery to Autozone, and it tested fine and full. Hm. Odd. So I go home and spend half an hour cleaning the connectors and clamping them as tightly as I could with my limited toolset to the posts, and....voila! Car starts up just fine. Feh. Admittedly, the posts are scarred and pitted, and the clamps also look not so good, so I should probably look into fixing that. This wouldn't have affected me so badly except working/driving in 100 degree weather on/in cars that could light cigars at a touch is one of my pet peeves. Now you know.

I've been thinking lately about souls, and I think I'm nearly ready to drop the idea. Souls seem like an overly complicated idea to explain a common phenomenon. Sort of a big moment for me, since I've been trained since birth to regard my own as all-important.

Anyway. Hooray for cars that work!

Fixing your car didn't make you feel all manly? What's wrong with you, man?

We should talk about souls sometime. I'd really like to hear what you've been thinking. S'all up to you, whether you want to or not. If so, email me.

It's nothing profound, really. It just seems to me that humans are all alike, with the same brains that perform the same functions, with minor electrochemical differences based on genetics and diet. Identitiy and personality can be tied pretty easily to a person's environment during development and the resulting knowledge and memories. An immeasurable entity that somehow manipulates corporeal bodies to reflect an intrinsic identity is....less normal. And you know me; I like to use the razor.

That's incredibly logical... Don't let a preacher hear it.

What color is a soul?

Not a color I see. (though with my luck, I'd have a pinkish green one.)

how long is it?

Immaterial objects defy spatial data, neh? Why should a soul have length?

I'm just kidding around ;) Lately I've been reading on spiritual matters and how spirits should have no actual accidents the human body can sense. Which is why it's weird to see some guy yelling and screaming "I'M FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT!!!" because I almost want to ask him if he's just not feeling some endorphin rush from excitement...

You're the most religious person on my flist, so I'll admit I wondered what you'd have to say about it. Interestingly enough, after posting this I went to Hastings for coffee and skimmed through a book they had on display called The Language of God by Francis Collins. It addresses some of the points I'd imagined. Assuming I can find it in our local library, I really want to read it all the way through.

By "accidents", do you mean incidents? God + "oops!" = really scary.

Reverend. Precher would imply that I preach to people, and we both know I'm too lazy for that.

Sorry I didn't take your call or call back. I was at work and didn't get time. We had higher-ups visiting today so I had to make everything extra shiny... grrr...

I spent two semesters in different philosphy classes discussing topics such as this. Sometimes I think it is all a bunch of bullocks. We have the ability to wonder, ponder, and reflect but that doesn't mean we are THAT special. There is that part of me that would like to believe that once this body o mine gives out that SOMEthing of me continues on. How else am I supposed to bug people after death?

Obviously the best solution is to bug people as much as humanly possible before death, neh? :P
