Friday, 19 January 2007 13:29Since Crossover is so limited (i.e. I couldn't get it to run what I wanted), I installed Parallels. After a bit of a hassle finding a valid copy of Windows XP (I reeeally need to learn to keep track of Product Keys), I ran my first proper Virtual Machine session. Windows XP within Mac OS X on an intel iMac. *flaps arms like a dork* Alas, Maple Story won't run, which seems to be due to the VM not using graphics hardware appropriately. So instead of shelling cash for Parallels, I'll wait until Leopard comes out and just use Boot Camp. I don't vitally need XP on Daniel Jackson right now, so meh.

2007-03-25 00:47 (UTC)there's a guide for this, you know...
http://www.basilmarket.com/show/guide/792/0/How_to_play_Maple_Story_on_a_Mac.html
I ran across it when I decided to install a virtual machine on my PC so I could run 2 instances of maple story... the instance in the VM to handle my shop, and the actual instance of maple that I could play on while my shop (on a seperate account) was makin me BANK :)
my friend has an intel-based mac as well, and he's currently using a laptop i'm selling on monday to play maple, so i did a bit of research for him and found the guide... hope it works for you... i'm downloading parallels for him right now as well..
btw, if it's not working, make sure to update the graphics card in the VM's OS, and ensure that direct x 9.0c is installed... good luck, and message me if you have more questions :) with care - Mark

2007-03-27 06:07 (UTC)I'll almost certainly install Boot Camp at some point, though, and then my GF can have her PC back. ;) Thanks for the link, though, I'd prolly never have found it.
