Scanners don't dream.

zachariahOkay, so today was a funny day. Bo and I ended up going halvers for a $70 scanner, so I basically got a decent (actually, a pretty darn good) scanner for ~$35. Nice, no? As long as this desire to draw continues, I have the time and means to organize them. ^^
Which brings up a very annoying point I've been putting off. American Tourist in Japan (working title). I've had the idea for a while now, and I'm really wondering if I should go anywhere with it. The concept is of an American who goes to live in Japan with his Japanese girlfriend for a year, after which they will both come to America. When he gets there, they split up after a few days, and he begins dating a really irritable twenty-something who is constantly drinking, eating, fighting, and in need of money. The story spans a year, and is largely a humorous romance.
Yeah. Very dumb, weird plot that would never happen in real life (or would it? o_0), but I like it :) I see it as a manga (literally - I see entire pages in my head at times), and I would love nothing more than to draw it out, if only for my own perverse pleasure.
I'm finding it difficult to do so.
The problem, as usual, lies with my lack of drawing ability. I'm not experienced enough to do something like this. Unfortunately, I refuse to allow anyone else to help. So where does this leave me, and more importantly, where does this leave American Tourist? My desire to draw waxes and wanes with the sunrise/set, while I itch to complete the story.

Pity.. it's even something that I'd very much enjoy working on.. but my layout skills completely suck and so do my perspectives and anything that relates to drawing guys... *sighs*
